We will participate in the Minsi Highland Games Fall Camporee. More details to come.

The troop will stay in Weytrex Cabins A&B and host members of the pack working on their Arrow of Light badge.

This is a placeholder for a potential weekend event. Some scouts have expressed interest in attending West Point Scout Day for an upcoming West Point football game. The next available game is Saturday, 11/22 (the weekend before Thanksgiving). Please RSVP if your scout would like to camp at the US Military Academy and attend the home game vs Tulsa. The troop would camp Friday night at West Point, participate in hands-on activities with the Cadets Saturday morning, and head into the stadium to catch the game. If we have enough interest, we will make arrangements to attend.

Important Note: We will still conduct our regular camping weekend (11/14 – 11/16), even if we participate in West Point’s Scout Day. For our November camping, the troop will host the upcoming Arrow of Light scouts from the pack (so possibly two camping weekends in November). If we do this, we will shorten the Arrow of Light weekend so that the scouts return home Saturday evening (giving you back some of the weekend). Our main focus in November is supporting the Arrow of Light weekend. Please don’t back out of the Arrow of Light weekend to attend the West Point weekend.

The troop will camp at Minsi and participate in Beaver Weekend (helping out with service projects for the camp). More details to come.

The Troop will camp at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum (MAAM) to support their World War II Weekend. This is always a great event! Please RSVP in Scoutbook. Please try to arrive at 2 p.m. (no later than 5 p.m. please). Please bring $20 for food to our meeting on 6/2. Pack a dinner for Friday and bring it with you (e.g., a sub sandwich).

The Scouts will earn service hours by converting the hangar from a daytime display area to a WWII-era dance hall (and back to the daytime display after the dance) on Friday and Saturday nights. The rest of the time is free time for the Scouts to explore the displays, interact with those who served during the war, and maybe pick up a souvenir or two. Scouts that participate in the service projects receive free admittance to the air show.

Details:
1) We will camp on airport property. Scouts will need to be dropped off and picked up for this event.
2) There are several vendors at the airshow selling souvenirs, food, and military collectibles. It is your choice regarding how much spending money your Scout needs (over the years, Scouts typically brought $25 – $100 with them to spend).
3) Although not necessary, Scouts ARE allowed to have a cell phone with them. Scouts are expected to demonstrate mature/intelligent use of technology (mobile devices).
4) Scouts are to arrive in Class B uniform between 2-5 p.m. Friday! (the earlier, the better).
5) Pickup is 10 am Sunday morning.
6) Scouts should arrive with their Class A Uniforms on a hanger, so they are in good shape to attend the evening events.
7) Watch the weather and pack accordingly, this event is rain or shine! There are some muddy areas if it does rain.
8) Be sure to pack hats, sunscreen, water bottle, sleeping bag, pillow, clothes, extra shoes, rain gear, Deodorant (non-aerosol), toothbrush, bag for dirty clothes, etc… (check your Scout Book)!
9) If you wish to allow your Scout to purchase any type of knife, sword, or other type of weapon collectible (within reason) you MUST send a note with the scout to the event. The note must be presented to a Scoutmaster who will then go with the scout to purchase the item, which will be held until pick up on Sunday.
10) There are some limitations on the purchase of some of the AXIS Powers (Germany, Japan, Italy) memorabilia. This will be by Scoutmaster discretion! If you wish to allow your scout to purchase these sorts of items, you can go into the air show with them on Sunday when you pick your Scout up.
11) Scouts MUST be on their BEST behavior for the entire event and MUST participate in the service project. Any Scout that misbehaves or that does not help during the service project may be sent home from the event and will not be invited to participate at Reading next year. Several thousand people attend this event; we represent Troop 99 and the BSA. Many Scout troops would love to have the same deal that we have with the museum; we do not want to jeopardize our long partnership with the Air Show and the MAAM.
